Three Processionals consists of short works for string quartet, to be played individually or as a set. Riffing off the idea of creating music for a procession, the first two have a joyous, uplifting characteristic, in contrast with the more sombre and heartfelt third movement. All three explore a luscious and expressive harmonic palette, using modal melodies and extended harmonies.
