'Songs Without Words' are a set of three short pieces for Piano Trio, all composed in an unapologetically melodic and lyrical style. Through a range of stylistic observances and veiled quotations, they endeavour to reflect something of the lives and music of composer siblings Fanny and Felix Mendelssohn.
This piano trio is cast in three movements, which may be performed separately or as a set.
To read more about the individual movements, the quotations used, and the connections between this work and the music of Fanny and Felix, please see this article I wrote for the ABC about the work.

REVIEWS
“The initial thing that struck me about Cawrse’s style is the fact she appears comfortable in her own skin. Hers is music that is tonal and lyrical, but with a clearly discernible, individual voice. Here is a composer who speaks directly to the listener....This is fifteen minutes of music to savour, to enjoy, to mull over, even drink wine to.”
